Operation Resilience…Do you have a nugget of life to share with others?

Life is not defined by the events that shape us but by our response to those events.

Our destiny lies beyond the barrages and the wreckage of our errant decisions; our unwise steps that have faltered.

Who we are is defined by our courage, our boldness, our intentions and these are all things of which we have total control.  We cannot control the life’s vehicle that may plough us down, but we certainly can control whether we are determined to walk again.  And this underlying driving force that pushes us to rebound is called resilience.

Today is Operation Resilience…the sowing of a seed of wisdom to reap a harvest of RESILIENCE.

So what is your seed of wisdom that you can sow today?  What is the spark of life that you breathe into another’s spirit to help them to rise from the ashes of their life?

What little nugget of gold can you invest in another to help them to rebound.  To inspire them to take a deep breath of refreshing life and move forward?

What little act of kindness can you do for another human being today to let them know how important they really are? Resilience

Please post your nugget of wisdom here.

I am the Michael D’Angelo of the Soul…

Statue David

Michael D' Angelo's statue of David

I was asked to describe myself…what my strengths are and this is the thought that came to me…that I am the Michael D’Angelo of the Soul.

The thing that I love most about the work that I do is that I get the opportunity to work with people and to help them uncover the talents and gifts that lie within them.

Like Michael D’Angelo, who saw David within the lump of marble, I see within individuals what they can be and it is my pleasure to draw that gifting and talent out.  I also see what their business can be, what their products can be and it is from this place of inspired vision that I work.

This is my passion.  This is my why.  This is what mentoring to me is all about, it is about helping the individual to discover the potential that lies within and to bring that out, to display that to the world.

My life is amazingly blessed.

3 Quick Tips To Keeping Inspired and Motivated

We are all born different, so what I am about to share may or may not work for you because there is not just one set of rules for all of humanity.

For me, motivation comes pretty easily.  I spring out of bed, happy to embrace the day and ready to take on a new challenge.  That’s my persona and probably 80% of the time it is no effort for me to get started on work.

However, it is that 20% of the time that I have to work harder at keeping up my motivation.  And this is where I have learned some simple keys that work for me and that I want to share with you.

ThinkingKey 1:  ”Work never killed you…it’s just the thought of it that did.”

I remember my mother used to say this to me as a young person.  She’d ask me to do something for her and I’d be dragging my feet and she’d just nail the problem…my stinking thinking.  Doing the dishes and washing clothes were always the killers.  It would take me a long time to get motivated but once I was there and got started I actually didn’t mind the work and there was a deep sense of satisfaction that came from seeing the kitchen shining and the clothes neatly folded and packed away in my drawers!

So our first battleground is in the mind.  Change the way we think about what it is that we need to do and it will become easier.

Working on LaptopKey 2:  Just do it – adopt a Nike attitude to life!

Sometimes tasks just niggle at you and niggle at you and like the unwanted food on your plate, they get pushed around the plate, moving aside to accommodate more interesting projects, but the truth is that the whole time those undone tasks are niggling away at your brain and causing you to worry and to be anxious because you know that your procrastination is going to catch up with you.

So in these moments when I can see that I am pushing a task around my desk but not actually getting on with it, I actually say out loud to myself, “Just do it, Hayley!”  And I deliberately (and I mean deliberately) make myself get started on it.  9 times out of 10 what I was worred about and the reason why I didn’t want to do it was because it was slightly complicated and I knew I’d have to use my brain to solve the problem. The truth is that when you actually get down to it, they are not as complicated as previously assumed and the end result is the job is done and off your conscience and you can’t put a price on the feeling of a clear conscience.

Team WorkKey 3:   Partner with others

I cannot stress enough how valuable it is to have other people that you can partner with to keep up your motivation in your business.  I have many people in my life that I work with that help me to keep motivated and on track and they really are invaluable.

So if you feel like something is a bit hard and you don’t really know where to start or just can’t get over that first hump, grab a business friend or business mentor and work on it together.  There is definitely strength in a group and a good support group can really not only help you to keep up your motivation but really propel you forward.  This was the whole motivation behind creating the Empowered Entrepreneur‘s group that I run on Facebook.  It’s a closed group that has 20 entrepreneurs who are committed to supporting each other and in doing that they are sharing information, providing online support and helping each other to keep motivated and inspired.  It really does work a treat.

So there are three keys to keeping up your motivation.  I’d love to hear your comments, so please post below and if you could share this article with your friends that will help them also.

I also offer business mentoring services if you feel like you need someone to be accountable with and to get inspired by.  Just fill in my email opt-in on the home page to make the most of a free 30 minute introductory consultation with me.

Interview Style Presentation for BPW Fremantle with Kath Mazzella

Having never been to a BPW meeting prior, it was quite eye opening to visit the Fremantle branch of BPW in support of Kath Mazzella so that we could present her story in interview style.

For those who don’t know, Kath is a Gynae Cancer survivor and advocate for women’s health with a growing momentum of support from around the globe for her cause.

It was quite fortuituous that the State President and National President were both in attendance and we got a snapshot of how BPW are representing women on both national and international committees where the profile of women is concerned. I was quite impressed with their goals and objectives and also with the joy I saw amongst the women in the group.

So here are some pics from the night for you to enjoy.

Being a Voice For Those Who Cannot Speak for Themselves…

As the Founder and current Chairperson of Women Can International Inc, I am often called upon to step out of my comfort zone and speak up on the behalf of others who are being unjustly treated.

You may recall that when Cr Elizabeth Re was being persecuted by other Councillors at City of Stiring Council I voiced my concerns in The Voice newspaper, writing a letter to the Editor which was published in it’s entirety.

Since then I have been approached by a number of individuals seeking support to fight for their cause and although many are admirable I have been selective about what causes I take up because we can burn ourselves out if we are not careful.

One such cause that crossed my path was the plight of involuntary mental health patients and as I delved more into the status quo I was shocked to learn how completely an individual’s rights can be stripped away if they are deemed to be a risk to themselves or the community.

Being Mental Health Week I thought it pertinent to write about this topic here in my blog and to express my concern that many of our community are ignorant of the rules that apply should you be taken into care.  Do you know about your rights?  Have you been affected by a Mental Health condition?  Do you know that you can be affected by the legislation?  Do you know the risks to your personal security?

Mental HealthI will be reporting more about this as I discover more from a legal perspective but I wanted to just highlight that we cannot afford to be ignorant of the systems that were set up to support but sometime ensnare those who cannot speak up for themselves.  I believe we have responsibility to care for the elderly, the infirm and the young in our communities.  I’m confident that if you were to go and ask your friends if they know anyone who has had dealings with the State provided Mental Health services you will start to hear some of the stories that I have been privvy to.  I have no doubt that there are wonderful, caring medical practitioners involved in the system who are very genuine.  I am just concerned that when a system is overloaded, as our system is, corner cutting and the time to provide individual care is diminished and it is from this perspective that I am seeking to raise our awareness of the rules and the way that the system is currently being administered.

It is also important that any new legilsation that goes before Parliament is thoroughly scrutinised to ensure the rights of individuals are not further eroded.

If you have a story, be it positive or negative, about your interaction with the public mental health system I would love to hear it.  Please post a comment here. I would like to get a really well rounded view of the service in preparation for  a public forum I am preparing for 2012.

Life’s challenges…

Hayley SolichSometimes we are faced with challenges…challenges that require us to rise to the occasion, to put our own needs in that moment to the side and to stand for those who are unable to stand alone…to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We could choose to ignore, to say no to the cost of saying yes, but the reward is in finding a way through, in finding the light at the end of the dark tunnel and that is far greater to me than existing just for my own self.

Testimonial from Kath Mazzella OAM

Hayley Solich is simply inspirational.  Over the past four years that we have been working together, she has been determined, visionary, committed to see things through and makes sure that any mission is accomplished.  By sharing her knowledge with others she has been able to see the growth in people and their businesses.

Hayley has unbelievable patience with people who can’t see their bigger vision and shines a light to help them get clarity.

As a public speaker, Hayley comes across as a very passionate woman and clear communicator, which impacts on anyone who listens to her.  I heard her speak at the Westpac Bank International Women’s Day event in Dianella and was not surprised when I learned that she had been invited to speak again the following year because I saw the tangible influence she had in inspiring others.

After attending Hayley’s presentation for her own business, I felt inspired to take her ideas and implement them into my own business which is now thriving.   I can’t thank Hayley enough for what she has done in showing me the way and for being willing to stand with me in promoting Gynae and Sexual Health Awareness in the community, despite it being a controversial topic for many.  Hayley has given me the tools, support and courage to forge ahead and pursue my cause.

Never to be forgotten, Hayley.

Supporting Gynae Awareness in Perth

I had the privilege of being invited as a guest at the International Gynae Awareness Day event in Perth, Western Australia. I have been a long time sponsor of the day, giving my time to work with Kath Mazzella to help her forward the cause and you may have seen the videos I did in helping to promote the message further.

It was a roaring success, so I thought I’d share just a couple of quick pics from the day…
